Ahead of the kick – off of the 3rd edition of the AMA Unity Cup in August, Omo’ba Hammed Olalekan Aroyewun (HOA) has described the annual tournament as a ground to develop talents in the grassroots and strengthen bonds among communities.
Aroyewun said this while hosting a delegation of the AMA Smile Foundation and the AMA Unity Cup Local Organising Committee (LOC) on Thursday, which came to present officially to him the AMA Unity Cup trophy, as part of the activities ahead of the football tournament scheduled to kick off in August
The AMA Unity Cup, an initiative of the Member representing Ikorodu Constituency II in the Lagos State House of Assembly, Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA), is aimed at promoting unity, discovering football talents, and engaging young people across communities in Ikorodu Constituency II through sports.
The symbolic presentation took place at the Conference Room of the Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA Secretariat, where Chairman Aroyewun warmly received the delegation and commended Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun for championing initiatives that foster youth development, peaceful coexistence, and community integration.
The Chairman described the forthcoming tournament as a commendable platform for nurturing young talents, encouraging healthy competition, and strengthening the bonds of unity among communities within Ikorodu Constituency II.
Aroyewun praised Hon. Aro Moshood Abiodun as a legislator who has consistently demonstrated a genuine commitment to the welfare and development of the people through impactful, people-centred initiatives that continue to make a positive difference across the constituency.
Chairman Aroyewun thanked the delegation for the visit and reaffirmed his administration’s readiness to continue partnering with individuals and organisations whose programmes promote youth empowerment, grassroots sports development, and stronger community cohesion across Igbogbo/Baiyeku and the wider Ikorodu Division.
Present at the presentation were the Chief of Staff to the Executive Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Olowu; the Secretary to the Local Government, Alhaji Qudus Oduntan; the Director-General of the AMA Smile Foundation, Mr. Adewale Bolowotan; members of the Executive Cabinet of Igbogbo/Baiyeku LCDA; as well as officials of the AMA Smile Foundation, members of the AMA Unity Cup Local Organising Committee, and delegates from across Ikorodu Constituency II.
